Across America - Day 1 Sunday 5/15/2011

Miami, FL – Orlando, FL

The movers have left, the apartment has been cleaned spotless, keys handed over and it feels strangely exciting to be in an empty apartment! After 1 month of hard work, the packing, the umpteen lists of to-dos, the stressing and running around – we are all done and I have lost my voice!!

The goodbye hugs exchanged, those memory pictures taken and like Madhav’s FB post reads today “this place and the people will always remain close to heart”!

One last get together to see our near and dear ones in Miami – thanks to baby Rhea, we are here at Archu’s place for Rhea’s naming ceremony. A beautiful function, amazing food (Aarthi, you rock girl!) and a memorable last party (for quite some time to come at least) in Miami. With all the gifts, food (as always) and a heavy heart, we realize it’s time to really leave Miami now!

6pm EST: After a quick stop at the gas station for a full tank (that’s probably the only thing our Civic can take in now anyway!), we hit the FL Turnpike. Our first stop will be Orlando. This is familiar turf; we will be reaching Orlando in about 3 hours. We are visiting Mandy and Mike, will be spending the night there and tomorrow is our drive out of FL.

What a day this has been – filled with celebrations, emotions, reflections, expectations – sigh! We are all excited for tomorrow.

Anu and Madhav signing off from the beautiful city of Miami, love you, will miss you and goodbye till we meet again! Good night!
