I am sure most of you have heard/watched Cupcake Wars on Food Network. Chloe Cascarelli was the winner of one of the earliest episodes. I still remember her cupcakes and the beautiful display piece from the show. I started reading about her online and thus came across Herbivore. Chloe is a vegetarian and a vegan chef and Herbivore is one of the restaurants she contributes to.
Herbivore was voted #4 in the 2010 Top Vegan Restaurants in the Bay Area. Herbivore is a casual-style eatery located a little south of the popular Gourmet Ghetto on Berkeley’s Shattuck Avenue. They are also located in two other locations in San Francisco.

After a pretty drive up the hill, an enjoyable window shopping along the way up (damn! are those houses pretty or what!!), a casual stroll in the UC Berkeley campus and after a quick “first course” stop at Viks, we finally made our way to Herbivore. An elaborate “vegan” menu ranging from grilled sandwiches to salads and shish kababs to ceviches, from tacos to lasagnas and curries to lentils – they’ve covered it all!!!
